The alphabet is good to me yet again. This certainly wasn’t planned; however, since tomorrow is our birthday, this couldn’t have come along at a better time. Let’s celebrate the jukebox with an all-American song! Back in the U.S.A. - Chuck Berry or Linda Ronstadt And thanks to Chuck Berry’s 60th birthday concert, you can have BOTH! The celebration of our little corner of the world is just as true now (“anything you want, we’ve got it right here in the U.S.A.”) as it was then. Berry wrote it after returning to America from a concert tour in Australia, where he griped that he couldn’t find a hot dog. If they did have them they were probably made out of Vegemite. (Sorry, Judy. ) And, as Linda Ronstadt’s 80th birthday is later this month (is that even possible? ), I have to mention her 1978 cover in the mix. That album is, to me, pretty lame; however, her rocking version is definitely a highlight. Back in the U.S.A.
