The alphabet is good to me yet again. This certainly wasn’t planned; however, since tomorrow is our birthday, this couldn’t have come along at a better time. Let’s celebrate the jukebox with an all-American song! Back in the U.S.A. - Chuck Berry or Linda Ronstadt And thanks to Chuck Berry’s 60th birthday concert, you can have BOTH! The celebration of our little corner of the world is just as true now (“anything you want, we’ve got it right here in the U.S.A.”) as it was then. Berry wrote it after returning to America from a concert tour in Australia, where he griped that he couldn’t find a hot dog. If they did have them they were probably made out of Vegemite. (Sorry, Judy. ) And, as Linda Ronstadt’s 80th birthday is later this month (is that even possible? ), I have to mention her 1978 cover in the mix. That album is, to me, pretty lame; however, her rocking version is definitely a highlight. Back in the U.S.A. Written by Chuck Berry Recorded by Chuck Berry Released as a single, 1959 Covered by Linda Ronstadt From Living in the U.S.A., 1978 JUKEBOX LYRICS: The jukebox jumpin’ with records back in the U.S.A.

What a lineup, love this song and I hate to admit it's the first time I've heard it.

Tell me about it! And as long as you DO hear it, that’s the important thing. Rock that chair!!!!

I didn't realize the 4th had already sneaked up on us! We've been hearing a lot of big booming fireworks going off after dark but they sell those year round here and the police don't make an effort to stop them from shooting them any time they want. *shrug* At least we didn't buy any noise makers this year.

@FourWalls And we lock ourselves in the house every year to avoid the smoke from fireworks. I get hives if I get into too much smoke. (We haven't been outside except to walk to our doctor's office in the last two weeks so it doesn't make a change for us.) Hope you've been doing well and enjoying the heat.

Playing the jukebox reminded me of my childhood when I inserted a coin in the jukebox machine and a lively song came out. This one you shared is one of my memory.

Yes, those were fun times. The skating rink I went to when I was a teenager only had a jukebox, so I had to take a lot of dimes and quarters with me.

We knew the song and of course recognized Chuck Berry's guitar but the woman's voice stumped hubby even though he really likes Linda Ronstadt

That was in 1958-1959 when he wrote the song, so our “cuisine” hadn’t be exported worldwide at that time.

Yeah, let’s face it, most guys could hate every song on the album and still buy it for the cover. And Hasten Down the Wind, too.
