I hadn’t paid a visit to my local graveyard since moving to this little town two years ago, so today I put that right and took a bimble along the rows of graves. I know only one person residing therein: I officiated at his burial on July 12th about 25 years ago, but didn’t come across the exact spot today. What I did discover however, was something I find remarkable but about which not many people will care. At the back of the graveyard, not far from my house, is a row of 10 graves each occupied by a man called David. In all my burying days I’ve never come across such a sight. Pure coincidence of course, but my word.

That is unique and uncanny. I wonder if any of them were related?

The family must have really liked that name.

Never really thought about it but I'm sure there must be a preponderance of names like John in my native graveyard. It's just a coincidence the Davids are all in a row though. Can't believe you have lived there two years already!

@fleura Seems more like 32 years. I wasn’t built for small towns whose cafes start to close at 3 pm.

@xFiacre No that is annoying. After spending the day doing whatever you're just ready for a sit down and a nice cup of something and everything is shut! Incidentally the last time we had that experience (apart from in a museum or some other visitor attraction) was in London! Couldn't believe that a cafe near the Marylebone road was shutting up shop at 4pm!

It is very odd that a graveyard has graves in a row named David.

That does sound strange. Check out the birth years. Perhaps it was a very popular name back when.
