For a few years now I have resisted doing the annual Medicare Wellness visit..Medicare wants *out to do .I just don't think it is necessary. I already see a doctor, and they want to come to the house. I am not going to host somebody I don't want there in the first place. Anyway, I just got a message from them apparently they want to horn in in my upcoming doctor's appointment. I was already going to ask the doctor to forego a test, and I don't want to construed as uncooperative by telling these Medicare people to take a hike. How would you handle it?

I am not sure if the doctor would take offense though. Like I didn't want to care about my health. As I said, I am already going to ask him to postpone a test.

@LadyDuck You always have the right of refusal, but they would also have the right to kick you out of the practice if they wanted to. I don't really see this guy doing that, but you never know I guess.

@snowy22315 - I understand, I usually do not care what my doctor thinks, it's my decision if to have tests or not.

I just had my appointment last Monday and when my doctor walked in I sang "when you're happy and you know it" and she smiled and clapped her hands. We actually had a great visit about an hour and I am happy with results. I have to go for a blood test before vacation.

Although they don't call it that here, if I did that to my doc, he would probably think I needed a Section 8. You must have known her a long time. Cute story though.

@BelleStarr Right, well They don't need to be involved...especially since they were discussing co pays etc.

@snowy22315 it's the check up Medicare offers to check if your depressed etc that's why I did the song. She has been my doctor for 6 years. I was just showing her I was not a Lonely depressed senior lol she gets me. Lol I do refuse the home visits I tell them I see my doctor regularly. I don't want them here either!!

I’d grin and bear it. I don’t think it’s worth making a big deal.

@snowy22315 Life seems full of that. I guess if we can eliminate a few of those occasions it makes us feel better, understandably.

I don't want to be forced to do something I want no part of.

I would decline if I didn't want it.

@snowy22315 I wouldn't be able to answer that one, our healthcare is no where close to each other or comparable.

I guess my concern is that the doctor might think I don't care about my health, or get upset or something. I don't want to offend the doc. He's new to me and I like him.

One of my annual doctor appointments counts as a wellness. I've never gotten bothered by Medicare and definitely not about someone coming to the house.

Since you're used to it and you know stressful it is. You may have the right to forego it. In my case I will do that.
