While I was with my ex there was a time when he and I traveled down to where his parents were brought up to see his dad. His dad had invited us down to Carey, Idaho to fish. He was quite the outdoorsman. He took us to this little out of the way pond and we caught our limit. I was excited because I hadn't fished much. For some reason his dad drove my ex's truck. (That model truck had a bar across the middle of the steering wheel with nobs at either end that were the honking mechanism.) So, we are out on the highway driving toward town with his dad in the driver's seat, me in the middle and my ex by the window. His dad started looking in the rear-view mirror and talking to this supposed driver behind us. (His dad is a nervous guy, and he is always tapping his fingers.) Several minutes go by and his dad is really getting upset with this guy behind us. "Go around." "Stop honking at me!" My ex and I look behind and don't see anyone. His dad really is mad by this time and starts using some bad language. He is really Irate. We are becoming concerned. What's going on? About this time, I notice that his dad is tapping his finger on the cross bar of the steering wheel and is making the car horn sound himself. I motion to my ex that that is what is going on. We silently giggle to ourselves. This imaginary irritating driver behind us was just his dad tapping the steering wheel and making the honking noise he thought was something entirely different.
