It was a little spooky. . .

I want to point out that I have big windows on the front of my house, with no blinds. I have lots of little solar lights in the yard as well. There is a large light near a utility substation about a block away, so we have lots of shadows.
I was sitting in my chair with no lights on in the house, and I was talking on the phone with my daughter. I kept hearing strange noises.
I saw shadows, but was not sure if it was something I was causing.
On my plant shelf I noticed what I thought was maybe a stray cat, looking in the window. I was pretty certain Bruno was inside. I knew Pedro was, but to double check I turned on the porch light and opened the door.
Three mid sized raccoons gave me "the look" then turned around and moseyed off.
I think that they were trying to eat my amaryllis bulbs I have in a planter. I just put it outside recently. Tomorrow it will come back in.
I had not seen raccoons in town here, only dead on the highway. I knew they were there, though, as people complain of them eating their corn.

@Wrexxo That's a shame. Raccoons are very cute, especially when they're young. I don't know about civets, though.

They are really common. I think civets have a bad smell.

Well I thought at first it was a door blowing in the wind. The shadows looked like a cat.

We aren't far into town here and often see raccoons, possums, squirrels and bunnies in our yard. Once in a while we even see dee eating the clover we have growing in our yard.
Strange noises outside at night make me check the security cameras to see what's going on out there. I'm glad it wasn't anything dangerous you found in your yard.

I think the neighbor's dog would have been barking. Pedro and Bruno often tell me when stray cats are in the yard, but I did think this was a cat at first.

@DaddyEvil I am surprised that worked towards compliance. There is only the one dog as a pet on our block and John tries to keep him up. I think sometimes we have some strays.

We have a badger roaming around in our front yard
we see it every so often nibbling on what he -she ?
can find, it's a nice size 1, I'd say full grown.

I was freaked out enough to write a discussion before I forgot. When we lived in McPherson and kept my sister's dogs we had to put the dog food in a metal trash can. We weighted the lid with a heavy tool box and the stinkers got together and pushed it off to open the lid. We eventually secured it with a bungee cord.
