Should people be more neighbourly ?

A debate popped up today about neighbours ....
Our neighbours on one side are lovely, just a few years older than myself and The Mister.
We exchange gifts at Christmas, we take in parcels for each other, they came and helped me with the removal of those dreadful box caterpillars a few weeks ago, we get on well with their grown up children and our Grandchildren play with theirs . I am at the caravan at the moment and they are watering our garden and sorting the bins.
We are lucky to have them as neighbours.
The other side ....not so much ...the grown son talks a lot but the Mom barely says hello and the Dad will actively ignore us. They are like that with everyone in the cul de sac ....so it's not personal.
Got me wondering .... are you friendly with your neighbours . ..do you chat....spend time together ....take in parcels....share a coffee and chat .
Or
Do you nod only !
Or
Do you never see your neighbours ?
Or
Do you have the neighbours from hell ?

Two of my neighbors will get my packages for me. One neighbor stole my packages once. So, it’s a mixed bag.
Now, my dad’s neighbors are the best. The ones on either side of their home know the code to his house. They put his packages in his house while he’s gone, and one neighbor used to mow his lawn when my mom’s dementia was really bad.
I love your neighbors that helped with those worms. That would freak me out too.

@AmbiePam. I remember your packages being stolen
It's good that your Dad has good neighbours. My Mom's are great too and that means a lot to me as although I am not far away I still have peace of mind that she is ok or there are folks to check.on her.
Yes, I am very thankful for my neighbours . They are lovely x we are very lucky.

Most of my neighbors are nice and friendly with the exception of one who lives across the street,

I'm glad you mainly have good neighbours...it really does make a difference.

Once or twice a year I say hello to the elderly lady across the street. My nearest neighbor barely tolerates me and my garden jungle. He and his family have a lovely garden but for me it is too strict- they spray chemicals and don't compost. For me, a dandelion is a bouquet to a bee. Not to them.

@sallypup. I can see how that would cause problems.

We're in a cul-de-sac of five houses, although they are quite spread out. I would say we are all 'neighbourly' rather than friendly. We will do things for each other when needed e.g. collect parcels, bring in bins, care for pets, but we don't do 'friend' stuff together apart from chat sometimes if we happen to be out at the same time.
