Oliver Did Something Surprising Today

We’ve had Oliver for 14 months and he’s refused to eat anything but the brand of dry food he had at the shelter But for the past two weeks he hasn’t been eating much So we tried once again to get him to eat tuna. And this time he did. He ate the whole pouch. My theory is that perhaps his teeth are hurting him and he couldn’t chew the dry food so he was very hungry and ate the soft food tuna out of desperation I really don’t know but I was glad to see him eat and will give him as much tuna as he wants

I am happy for you that your cat Oliver did enjoy his meal of tuna this evening.

I wonder if he needs some teeth removed. One of my dogs had to have a tooth removed once.

They can get bored with their regular food too

That's good he is trying something other than dry food.

My neighbor has two kitties. They love tuna, and then also love canned chicken and chicken in a pouch as well. I'm glad he decided to give the tuna another try.

Yeah he’s been adamant about not eating treats or canned food or milk or tuna up until now

@LooeyVille I often wonder if pets just plain old get tired of eating the same food all the time and they switch it up like Oliver just did. My dogs always did that.

Maybe the hot weather made him fancy something moist. Or maybe his teeth are an issue as you said.

My cats go through phases of just eating wet or day. Have a vet look at his teeth, just in case.
