My Advice to You About Prescription Medication

United States

I’m offering unsolicited advice here. Whenever your doctor prescribes you a new medication, research it thoroughly before you agree to take it You know your body better than anyone else and you are responsible for being your own advocate. Doctors aren’t perfect. I’ve just stopped taking a medicine that I’ve been taking for more than 10 years. I researched any potential withdrawal symptoms. That’s when I found out all of the negative side effects of taking it. I recognized that I’ve been suffering from many of them I normally check out all about a new prescription before I take it but I missed the mark on this one. If I knew then what I know now I never would have started taking it. So please be careful what you take

Did they not try to wean you off to minimize the withdrawal symptoms? That’s not good at all.

And are you going to discuss this with the doctor who prescribed you the medication?

And sometimes a very good medicine will help one aspect of your health while messing the other up completely. I do try to research what we take. It is good advice.

That's so terrible. I don't take any medicine at all. Unless I am seriously ill and hospitalized. My sister is a doctor but she's an OB GYNE. But whenever we are sick and badly needing medicine, she would just text our symptoms to her friends that are specialists on what meds we should take.

Thanks. We should really be aware of the side effects of the medications doctors give us

I always considered myself proactive about checking medications, and then when the son's blood disorder surfaced along with the accident, I really got strict with myself on it. It's best to check and be sure than not to check at all. Good post, Loo. You might have saved someone being sick or having a really bad reaction.
