We rescued two stray puppies- a male and a female. The male has grown up and had to be taken away by my elder son as it's the mating season now and the female is still a puppy. The male Kittu and the female Blacky are happy staying with us separately. Only they always want us at home. Blacky loves playing with toys.

When I got my Danie, I made sure I have all the time of the world for her. In fact, whenever I leave home, I get too anxious to come home thinking she's alone with the maid and she might not be happy. And whenever we go on a trip, I bring her along with me. So when she gave birth to her first litter, I made sure to get one so Danie could have a companion.
So now when I leave home, Danie isn't alone anymore. She's with Yuki.

It does depend on the animal really. I have had cats and dogs that didn't want others around

I have noticed that the cats inside the house enjoy their company being inside of the home.

It depends. I would love to have a second dog. My dog, however, Sadie, wants nothing to do with another dog. She came from a home with other dogs and didn’t like them at all. Now, when I go away, my friend who watches her has dogs, and Sadie tolerates them, but barely. She is much happier and energetic when it’s just her. She won’t even tolerate cats, which is a shame because my previous dog loved them.
