Little Black Flies Inside the House!!??

Everywhere. They’re everywhere.
I think I remember this happening over at the other house this time of year too.
They’re little, they’re fast, they look like newborns, and these little buggers BITE.
It was just really upsetting because last night was one of those cool “Fall” type nights and I wanted to open my window all the way up and let the cool air blow in thru the screen.
I had the Grinch movie on and I was gonna just watch it and drift off when I got tired.
Suddenly my foot is itching like crazy with a bite and I’ve got 3 of these little flies in my room, impossible and too fast to catch with my cup and postcard.
I did get the catio set up upstairs too, the room down the hall, and its mesh, not screen.
The flies are all over the place downstairs too, so not quite sure I can blame my room, the catio, or maybe a screen downstairs with a crack or something.
Anyway, gonna order this thing in my pic and hang it on my closet door near the cat food in my room.
The flies somehow get in there with food as bait and get trapped.
So it will be like a catch and release, I’ll let them all back outside when it’s full.
I can’t just use a fly swatter and kill them like mom and uncle can.
Anyone else deal with this?
Did you find out where they’re coming from?
SNL tonight @ 11:30 p.m., friends.
Don’t forget.

Yep, mosquitoes can get in thru the catio too, which is why I only keep it open on cool nights. I’m allergic to mosquito bites! My whole leg swells up. Thanks double A.
I will use this opportunity to put up a pic of the newly-installed catio. That’s my Timmy in there, he has a great view of the pond and woods. Have a nice weekend

My relatives and myself have an electric zapper that rubs out flies when they touch the light on the object.

Does it kill them or just scare them away? I just want them to get away.

Amber, I’m almost getting to that point. It’s so freaking hot in my room and I have to sleep with my arms and legs covered up and this is BS. I’m ordering that fly catcher tomorrow, hopefully it will work and I can let those buggers all out at night or something.

I had a bunch of flies on my screen in the kitchen, luckily on the outside of the screen, but some got in and then I had sticky tape put up and one day they were just gone. If you remember the horror movie Amityville Horror I almost thought I was being haunted by some mean spirit. Remember, they had all those flies.

I do remember that! How the heck do they manage to squeeze in thru the screen is my question.. thanks RasmaSan

I'm really glad I haven't had any problems like that here
In Scotland we get Midges
But over here in the east they are not so bad
Hope that you don't get bitten any more

Thanks Jimbo and yes I’ve heard about those midges. I don’t mind bugs, I actually like them (esp spiders, I’m fascinated by them) but when insects bite or sting, I need to get them away from me, very allergic to bites.

Sometimes they are around but mine don't bite. I have Zevo for them.

I get why people cut down every tree and plant life they find, because it attracts bugs. They say flies are bad this year. They are everywhere, even in the concrete jungle.

Nope. It's really rare for us to get a fly in the house. Fruit flies, though, every time we buy fruit (bananas, plums and peaches) we get fruit flies. I put out cups with apple cider vinegar out and a bunch of fruit flies flew in and drowned. Change the vinegar every morning and you'll only see fruit flies once in a while.

Fruit flies don’t bother me in the least.
And yeah they do love the fruits (hence the name!) and I will admit I find one inside the lid of my coffee maker from time to time, they’re smelling the decaf caramel pecan. Thanks Daddy E

My Dad is smart, he keeps his door closed at all times. No cat food, cool air, no windows open. Mom & uncle, yeah they love the heat, keep turning the air conditioner off, and always opening that downstairs screen and just swatting when they let the flies in.
I really think it’s them.
Thanks Judy
Fly catcher being ordered tomorrow
