Not new at all. She's in her 50s and nobody would hire a teller at that age.

She's in her 50s. Not old enough to be too slow and not young enough to be a newbie. I think it was her strategy to move slow coz I heard from one employee that a bank teller in that job does too many things other than just a bank teller. I think she was killing her time to avoid doing other jobs.

@toniganzon That's entirely possible. Several jobs I've had sent faster employees to "help" slow employees. When they sent me to help slow ones, I slowed down to their pace or slower... One lady complained I was slower than her and I was put back on my normal job. I hated helping lazy people and made it clear that I would go as slow as that person if I was doing their job. One assistant manager told me he'd write me up if he caught me doing that. I told him I'd call the Home Office and complain if he didn't write up the person who needed help... He never wrote me up and never made me help anyone else.

@toniganzon ......oh, I wasn't aware of that. I was thinking of old fashioned times, not present.

@celticeagle Even when I was a kid and counting money was done manually, all the tellers I knew worked really fast. They really counted the money fast enough and they do it more than once to make sure they don't make mistakes. We would deposit hundreds and thousands of money twice a week and the lowest denomination of the bill was P5. And the highest was only P100. But these days the highest denomination is P1000.

Not when you're a bank teller. That's why the newbies are not assigned as a teller but they're placed in the new accounts desk or information desk. And these days, the counting is done by the machine, not by a human. More reason for the teller to work faster. Not slow.

NOpe. It's not normal for a bank teller. They're usually accurate and move at a much faster pace. Not a slow snail pace because there are too many signs to do. And what they do doesn't require that much skill since everything is done electronically. They don't even count the money manually anymore unlike before. the job is too easy.
