Library trip on hold

I wanted to go to the library to return the books I borrowed, but my local branch is temporarily closed for repairs.
I was thinking of going to a different branch instead.
It is not too far from where I live.
Just a few stops on the train, though it takes almost half an hour to get to the train from my house.
There is a book that I wanted to get as well and seems it’s available in that library.
I could never find it in my local branch.
It’s called I Am Me by Jennie Garth.
I looked at the forecast and it’s saying that it’s going to rain.
And there is a chance that it may be a lot of it.
I am bummed but I guess it’s best if I don’t go anywhere.
I don’t want to get caught in a downpour, especially if I have books with me.

That's the one downside to physical books. They aren't weather proof.

I ended up staying home and it never poured hard. Seems it was only light rain. The forecast was saying otherwise. Argh!

Did you tell the local librarian that you wanted a book they don't carry? Normally, they'll offer to request if from some other library in the system and call you when it comes in so you can check it out. (I think I had to fill out extra paperwork for them to request books for me from other libraries , but it wasn't a lot of extra paperwork and was well worth the trouble. I was allowed to request books from libraries all across the US after I filled out the paperwork for them.)

@lovebuglena That only works in the library you normally use. This is totally different. Next time the library is open, ask somebody if they can set your account up so you can request books from libraries in the system.

@DaddyEvil What I usually do is go online to the NYPL website and put a book on hold and select which library I want to pick it up from. Usually I choose to pick it up from my local library as it’s the closest. I don’t know where the book actually comes from when I pick it up. You can come from any of the boroughs that are part of the NYPL system. Is that what you’re referring to?

I remember I had to go to my mother‘s house and it was going to rain. I got lucky that most of the way there was no rain but when I got off the bus stop by her house it started to pour like crazy. I was literally walking through huge puddles. And I got soaked.
