60 and excited about free prescriptions …..

No secret that I turned 60 in January ……I don’t feel it or look it ….
So, obviously all my friends I went to school with are turning 60 too.
One friend …..let’s call him Carl ….mainly ‘cos that’s his name ( he is not on here so he will never ever know I have posted about him ……you don’t tell will you ? )…..turned 60 today….
He just posted on FB saying thanks for all the Happy Birthday messages ….and ….this is the part that made me laugh out loud ….saying that he is getting free prescriptions now !
He hasn’t been to the Drs for at least 25 years …..but is still happy that when he does need to go , he will get free meds !
I guess getting older means different things to different people …..
Are their any benefits to being the age you are now ?

Free cinema, 25% discount on restaurants and essential grocery items including meds. But no free prescriptions.

One benefit of getting older is getting social security payments monthly and getting medical insurance from health companies.

@flapiz yes, here I think it’s around £11 per item. I have one set of tablets and they were prescribed by the Dr for 3 months supply at a time so I only paid the £11 every 3 months, individually would have been £33. Luckily now I don’t have to pay though.

I won't PROMISE I won't tell but I'm very, very rarely on Fakebook so I probably won't run into a Carl that you know and went to school with. I DID go on Fb long enough to wish my SIL happy birthday yesterday, though. 
I get 11 medications free now... Always before, my job insurance paid for them (I still paid $4 a month for each one of them when my work insurance paid for the meds, though.)
I can't think of anything else I get because I'm over 60.

I only use Fakebook once in a blue moon. Normally, I just talk to Filipino friends there in Messenger because that's free for them to use.

@traceyjayne I get free train and bus travel throughout the whole of Ireland, north and south. Pensioner’s haircut. A year’s swimming for £11.90. But most of all the pension.

I do get a few benefits being a senior citizen.
I am grateful and count the blessings along with the years that go with it!
A few tend to be deferential too though it can be embarrassing at times.
On the flip side, some avoid me too! (not worth their time!)

My eyes hurriedly ran over my phone, and I briefly thought you were taking sixty prescriptions. Right away, I realized my mistake, but for a brief moment I thought you had gone far and above beating my amount of prescriptions.

Yes, I think you are right , the main benefit of being 45 is that you are not 46 ….( that made me chuckle )

That made me laugh too! After not visiting the doctor for 25 years, free prescriptions probably aren't going to save Carl a fortune anytime soon. But I suppose it's nice knowing the benefit is there if he ever needs it. I think one of the biggest benefits of getting older is caring less about what other people think. With age comes experience, and you become more comfortable making your own choices and deciding what is really worth worrying about.
