Finally left the house

Not raining now so decided to make the trip to the library. It’s only 80 according to my weather app but it feels stuffy and hot to me. The walk to the train was exhausting. Part of me wishes I had stayed home but I forced myself to leave the house as I’ve been home for days already. The entrance to the train was closed and it said use opposite platform for all trains. That’s what I did. When it was time for my train it was going on the regular track and I had to run for it to try and make it to the other platform. Now I feel like I ran a marathon.

I’m exhausted from running to catch the train. I updated the discussion with that.

@Ineeddentures I was upset. If trains were no longer running on the opposite track they should have removed the sign. I ran because if I had missed this train I’d have to wait for half hour for the next one. I wasn’t even sure I’d make this one.

@lovebuglena I don't doubt it. If you don't move a lot you're going to be.

@kaylachan True but it’s also the weather. I don’t take heat very well.

Did you get to the library and get the book you wanted? I never took a train in Staten Island. My friends and I usually took the ferry over and then walked or took buses to wherever we were going. During that time the ever popular and creepy Willowbrook Mental Institute was in working order, and one time my friend and I got lost in Staten Island, and suddenly we wound up going down this dirt road. He said there shoudl be a way out and I said we are in heck of a lot of trouble and suddenly we were in front of these large gates that said Willobrook, I said to him great now you can go and commit yourself, I told you we were going the wrong way

Yes I did. I love the Staten Island train. It’s free within the island, except for the Staten Island ferry stop and the one before that. And when I take it it’s usually never crowded.

Good for you for getting out of the house, even if it turned into more of an adventure than you expected! Weather apps can say it's only 80°F, but if it's humid and stuffy, it can feel much hotter. Then having the station entrance closed and being sent to the wrong platform would throw anyone off. Having to sprint to catch your train after already feeling drained must have felt like running a marathon.

The weather app isn’t always accurate.

I don’t like running… but I didn’t want to wait half an hour for the next train so I ran.
