My neighbor is pissing me off

When I'm in the hospital or whatever she takes care of my cats. It isn't hard--make sure the food and water bowls are full and scoop the litter boxes every couple of days. When I was away during the spring for 2 months I sent her $100 after like 2 weeks as a thank you. That was a mistake. She then expected $100 per week and would text me asking when I was going to pay her. I should have waited until I got back to just give her 1 smaller lump sum. She lives on disability and what she earns from a part time job. Still she can't pay her bills. (so it makes sense to buy a new car right? ) She can't pay her rent without asking her sister for money. That stinks but it isn't my issue. Of course she jumped at the chance to watch the cats during this current adventure. Fine. I left on Monday and by Friday she was texting me asking me when I was going to pay her. I told her I had to wait until the rent and utilities came out of my checking account. I'm sorry but I'm not going to try to live on $50 for 2 weeks because she doesn't have enough money. Honestly as a "friend" she should just be doing it for free without any expectation. (of course I would give her something) This morning she texted me again asking when I could pay her. I told her that I did not expect to spend hundreds of dollars in the spring (paying her *ahem* ) so it was a bit of a balancing act at the moment. She said "you said you got your summer money". I replied that I did but almost all of it went to August's rent. She said she couldn't even pay rent. Sorry--not my problem. My ex offered to give me some money to get me through the month but I don't want to go there. If I truly need it I will ask but I'd rather not. I'll be fine. My neighbor? Not so much. If she gives me $hit then I'll tell her that I'll get someone else to do it. That will shut her up.

Had this neighbour got your keys? Do you think she would be vindictive? She doesn't sound like a friend Just a neighbour A friend would never have asked for money at all knowing what you were going through

@NJChicaa I hope she doesn't let the cats down You don't need to be worrying about the cats getting looked after

I am not trying to be overly critical but I’m not sure I would be trusting this woman with my pets or belongings. Is there someone else who can step up and take care of things for you?

If she keeps being annoying I'll ask my aunts to do it.

@NJChicaa Maybe just have the aunts pick up the key and do it for you...and save some money in the bargain. She isn't a friend anyway, to charge you such a crazy amount and demand payment constantly.

She bought a new car? That’s crazy. I can’t imagine being that irresponsible with money OR asking someone for money when they’re doing something so important, AND you’re on such good terms. Why mess that up with being greedy.

I've gladly looked after others' cats with no thought of payment.

I agree with you, but the only thing I would be worried about that she would stop taking care of the cats and not even tell you so I hope she is not like that when she cannot get what she wants,

"When you have friends like these, who needs enemies" comes readily to mind. Hope she doesn't keep reminding you during this testing time.
