Wow the sewing machine works
And it does seem that Yvonne does know what she is doing
I never doubted it
She took a piece of cloth and made a bag already
After 2 minutes she said it was like she had never stopped using a sewing machine
She mastered the thing you press the foot on straight away
So happy for her, I really am
My main concern is threading needles.
My eyes are not good enough to do that but it should be easy on the machine, shouldn't it?
Anyway this update was one I had been eagerly waiting to make

I think it is easier to thread a needle as long as you can see where the eye is.

And that is my problem
My close up eye sight is shocking
I have no chance of threading a needle these days

If she has trouble she can get a threader. They help a lot. Glad she is enjoying it

@Ineeddentures Glad she found one. I often put a piece of paper behind the needle. That helps me see the hole better

She found a threader with a couple of spools and a spare needle and some other stuff
Seems she hasn't forgotten how to use a sewing machine
She made a shopping bag from an old curtain in about 5 minutes
She would have been a great seamstress when she was younger before she met me

That is great Yvonne knows how to sew on a sewing machine. It brings back memories to when I was a young girl. My Mom had a Singer Sewing Machine and she would make my sister and I outfits. She also made dresses for herself. I have memories of her buying material and clothes patterns. She would lay out the cloth on the living room floor and attach the patterns and cut out the patterns and then sew them into outfits. She was good at it and enjoyed doing it.

@Ineeddentures @LeaPea2417 We had a Singer machine too, a treadle-operated one. In fact I still have it so if we have an electricity crisis I will still be able to sew 
Both my Mum and my Dad used it. My Mum made all sorts of things for the house; curtains, chair covers, cushions... When I was little my Dad made dresses for us both (me and my Mum I mean ), I remember at one point when I was 2 or 3 he made us matching outfits.

Yvonne was a seamstress with a leading tailor
She was very skilled, and I think still is.
It's great to see her actually taking the bull by the horns and doing stuff again
Singer sewing machines , I think most families had one here
I think girls were taught how to use them at school
Have you got any photos of outfits made by your mum for you and your sister

My grandfathers, could both use a sewing machine
Great attention to detail
Yvonne has used a treadle machine as well

My mother used to be a seamstress, but circumstances forced her to stop; her eyesight is no longer as sharp as it once was, and doctors have confirmed she has suffered three strokes. She is strongly determined to walk again, even though her gait will differ from the norm.

I hope you mothers determination will make sure she walks again
She sounds like a very brave lady indeed
I was surprised at just how well Yvonne managed this machine despite her needing cataract surgery in both eyes

I can't even see the eye of the needle Anna not holding the thread still enough to put it in the needle
I'm glad Yvonne got a threader, one thing now she won't get frustrated with as she threaded a needle easily

I just can't believe Yvonne waited so long to buy a machine
This machine seems like a decent enough quality appliance.
And I was so impressed that Yvonne just set it up, sat down and made a bag from an old curtain
I will carry.tgat bag on the bike and use it when I shoo

Yvonne was a seamstress for one of the top UK tailors
I thought she might buy a better machine straight away but she said this one will get her back into the swing of things again

That's wonderful news! It sounds like Yvonne picked it up again very quickly. Once you've learned to sew, the basic skills often come back faster than expected. As for threading the machine, many modern sewing machines are much easier to thread than hand sewing, and some even have a built-in needle threader. I hope she has lots of fun making new projects, and I'm looking forward to hearing what she creates next.
