My 2026 Monthly Goals - February

My monthly goals are to read two books and finish one art project each month. I hit the January goals, and in February, I was able to hit them again, reading Black Dogs, an historical novel (set in the late 80s) by Ian McEwan, and Caste, a nonfiction examination of racism and oppression by Isabel Wilkerson. I would highly recommend both.
My art project that I finished was my first "zine" (like a magazine, but self-published and no ads). It was a mini zine, which is made by folding one regular-sized sheet of paper so that it makes eight pages. I posted a picture of the cover before when I made a post about it, so here's a look at some inside pages.

Me, too! I made a design for a 12-page one but haven't done the finished art for it, yet. I like this little one - it makes a fun thing to tuck into Etsy or eBay orders or a card to a friend or family member.

@teamfreak16 apparently, it is still (or again) quite a flourishing culture. There are quite a few makers on art YouTube that promote zinemaking, and that is what inspired me to produce mine.

@AliCanary - Nice! I used to know a couple guys that did a punk zine in Colorado Springs. I haven't actually seen one in years.
