Good morning August 5

27 days until the ber months. THis coming week is going to feel more like mid July than the ber months, but it is what it is. Anyway, today's fun includes a trip to the DMV to apply for my Real ID which I need for flying. It took me awhile to accrue the necessary documents, but I think I am all set. I am going to the bank so if I need a statement I can get that, but I think there is one right on the table. I will be glad to get this step out of the way though. Have a happy day today!

It takes awhile. I had to even get a copy of my marriage license.

I got my passport so I didn’t need to get my REAL ID. Although, my dad urged me to get it anyway, just in case. I know it’s a pain for you to get the paperwork though. It’s 100 F today, and I can’t wait until it gets cooler.

@AmbiePam A passport card probably would have worked for that as well, but they aren't inexpensive either. A passport is more versatile, and good ID.

Passports cost a lot more than Real ID, but I will need to get another one. Mine is expired.

Department of Motor Vehicles. Read ID is a secure drivers license you can fly with. You have to present several forms of ID to get it, and it takes the place of your driver's license. Besides flying you can get onto military bases with them. There are a couple fairly nearby I used to go on the army base at Fort Belvoir alot, as I was quite near there at the time and worked on base a time or two.

It will..this whole trip is turning out to be kind of anxiety provoking, and expensive as heck. I think I will enjoy once I am there though. Good thing I got a free flight though, that helps.
