Is There Such A Thing As Having Too Much Yarn? Nope

United States
August 5, 2026 4:08pm CST
My fun project for today was going through my massive yarn collection and sorting through it all. I've divided it into 4 boxes. One for my newest and not used yet yarn, one for balls of yarn that I can use for future projects, one for donation, and the smallest group will go to my daughters neighbor who is a nursery school teacher and is always looking for craft supplies. Not the easiest job in the world and I'm not quite finished. Took up most of my afternoon but I feel like I accomplished a lot. You probably think I'm crazy to have so much yarn but what can I say....I'm addicted!! What do you have too much of???

@Marilynda1225 My kitchen drawers are filled with stuff I never or rarely use. Some of them I don't even know what they are! Books too, too many

I could add those to my "too many" things too. I've stopped getting "real" books and have switched to downloading on my Kindle so my over 300 books don't take up any room on my book shelf. Kitchen...good grief I have so many mugs!

It's so addictive especially when I see colors I don't have and think of a project that would be perfect for that yarn.

I’m sure the neighbor really appreciates it. And someone is going to be very happy to get what you donated! I have too many things I got to review. I just wish I could afford to mail some of these things. I am about to give some things to my ten year old cousin though, and I know she’ll love them. They have axolotls on them, and she loves those things.

I don't know how you find time to review all the things you get. I'm sure your cousin will enjoy the things you give her.

Yarns, journals, and pens! I have boxes and boxes of yarns of different types. I also have them in different yarn weight category. From super fine to bulky. I am a yarn hoarder. And just last night I was browsing through a yarn online shop. I'll never get enough. Oh and I just saw that Furls released Odyssey II so I'm contemplating on getting that hook.

That is wonderful that you are all organized and were able to donate some of the yarn. If I had to say what I own too much of, I think it would be shoes, I have alot of shoes, but I do love them.

I do remember when you were doing your crocheting. I guess if I didn't crochet much anymore I probably wouldn't have the stash I have now.

@Marilynda1225 I'd crochet more but don't really have an outlet for it.

@Marilynda1225 sometimes it can't be help getting attracted to pens. I'm glad now I no longer collect notebooks & stickers
