I wonder how steakhouses are going to stay in business?

When friend and I were coming back down here we stopped at a modest steak restaurant. It is a chain they have mostly in Pennsylvania. They have good food and a very nice salad bar, not Golden Corral sized but they have a nice selection. Ordinarily at a place like that I would get steak, but I saw only one under 40 bucks, and it was chopped sirloin, basically a glorified hamburger. Anyway, I got a stuffed chicken breast and salad bar, and Friend got salmon. We both looked at the steak menu for about 20 seconds. At those prices, I doubt they are selling much steak, if people want to spend big bucks on steak they would go to a high end place I think...Of course, the higher end places are selling the steaks for 75 dollars or more. sigh..

The price of beef will not come down again
Production costs will not come down
Neither will staff costs
Restaurants won't pay less energy bills
So the prices just now are probably realistic given the associated costs

I suspect they may come down a little when transportation costs less, but it might just be temporary.

Optimism, I love it
Everything here is almost double what it was in 2023.
And if stuff isn't double it's still way more than it was
Kenco Coffee in 2023 was £4 a 200g jar
Now it's £8.35 for 190g
Prices won't come down my friend
Now they know we can pay the prices
I wouldn't reduce my prices now, that's for sure

I am afraid that steakhouses will be closing soon due to the lack of customers going to their businesses due to the high prices.

Or they will promote other things on their menu, and just maybe sell sirloing tips or something.

You just have to roll with the flow. The supply and demand and need to milk as much out of the comsumer will never change.

I have had the same thoughts. I do know people who previously went there regularly, that no longer go at all--the price of beef is so ridiculous, and there appears to be no end in site on this.

It appears that our lical Red Lobster has problems as they claim to be temporarily closed and I have driven by several times the past few days when I was taking son to his appointments, they are still closed. Several sites claim that nearby cities have the same problem going on with their Red Lobster’s. Supposedly they all pay rents they feel are way too high. We do have a lot of seafood options here but the main Red Lobster in our area has been there for many years. We have lost several restaurants lately.

The thing is doing away with beef still will not fix the climate. I hate that it is so expensive, though.

As for me I still can afford ground beef but I mostly stick to things like smoked sausages, frozen pork patties, and chicken ,

A steak dinner is not something I could afford these days, It's not cheap eating out even without getting a steak.
