Animal protection officers rescue a turtle that was trapped in a fishing line in a lake

Lafayette Police Animal Control Officer Hettinger answered an emergency call on Wednesday July 29 when a snapping turtle was trapped in Waneka Lake in Colorado when the turtle was trapped on a discarded on a fishing line. The animal control officer had assistance from the Lafayette Fire Department went out to the lake by using a boat to rescue the snapping turtle from being trapped in a discarded fishing line and remove the animal from getting hurt. The officers took the turtle to a wildlife rehabilitation center where the animal will be taken care of before being returned to the wild.
