Introduced a neighbour to my Mom in Lidl …..

Yesturday when Mom and I were in Lidl a neighbour of mine saw us and came to say hello. I introduced him to my Mom as they hadn’t met before.
Pete ….my neighbour ….told Mom that he used to see me at the bus stop when he was going out for his walk ….one day he asked me if I lived locally and I replied “ yes. Next door but one to you and you have sent us several Christmas cards “.
We did laugh about it.
He had moved in after us and for about three years we had sent him a Christmas card and he had sent us one, yet we had never actually met ….

Yeah, I do know my neighbors but we don't really talk to each other.

@Traceyjayne Because we hardly see each other. The moment we are out of the house we are in our car. Each of our houses is gated.

@traceyjayne No. The ladies who live on either side are housebound but they have family who call with them a lot. They can’t come to the door even. It’s hard to be accepted in small towns where everyone already has friendships established from school days and they all know each other.

@xFiacre ….we live in a small cul de sac of 16 houses / bungalows ….we have been here. 6 years and there are still people I have never seen or spoken to. All but one send Christmas cards ….

Yes, I know my neighbors. One stole from
Me, one saves my packages, and another has bed bugs. The whole building is getting sprayed now even though no one else been found to have them.

I do know my next door neighbor who has been in my area for about a year as well as my across the street neighbor.

I live on a small-ish street with 16 little townhouse homes. There are 8 on each side of the street. Two units are empty right now, one passed away and one recently moved. Both are currently being painted, etc. before renting again. People here stay for a long time for the most part. I know all neighbors but 3. One is a complete recluse and must be very unhappy, we have all tried to speak to her but she stays inside and refuses to speak to anyone at all. Another is caring for her husband who had a leg amputation, they never go out. I do try to take a food offering over there when I can. The third one I don't know is a younger fellow who is always wearing ear buds, rarely home, and other than a wave when he drives by we haven't ever spoke. I don't think anyone knows him.
