The ubiquitous milk crate

‘Ubiquitous’ means ‘found everywhere’ and that could apply to the humble milk crate, also often called a Brownes crate as the Brownes name sometimes appears on the crates. Brownes company produces milk and milk products. Cartons and bottles are commonly transported in the crates. You see these crates everywhere. They are handy for storage and are a useful height for standing on when doing DIY projects. We have three of them and I’m very careful not to lose any if we’re working on something at a place other than our own. One pattern had a diamond shape in the base. One camping holiday, we cut the diamond-shape out, unended it over a hole and used it as a toilet seat. We dug a hole underneath to take the waste and erected a large wool bale around it. I’m wondering if crates such as these are found elsewhere.
