I do that sometimes. I was looking through some of my old videos from 2011 when I came across the photo and video of my beloved furbabies Mykey & Allie. Mykey, he white pup, was the first and only real guard dog I ever had. He was fiercely protective of me and my property especially from men or boys and he wanted to tear any loose dog that came to his fence to pieces, he was part American Bull Terrier and lord only knows what else, he weighed 72 lbs in his adulthood. Allie, the brown pup, weighed about 50 lbs or so, she was long legged and friendly mostly but wouldn't go to strangers. I never could figure out what her breed mix was though. When I got stuck in a rehab after my emergency appendectomy for 16 days my friends would come to feed her and my cats but she wouldn't go near them, I was told she would watch them a few feet away and if they moved too quickly she'd run. When I finally came home it took her 5 or so minutes to finally recognize me and then she was all happy and bouncy. I know, enough about that, they were my world for their 12 year lives, all too short if you ask me but at least I never abandoned them, well not on purpose, that appendectomy wasn't my idea.

What absolute sweeties! Sometimes it hurts me too much to think about my previous furbabies, but sometimes it warms my heart.

I lost Mykey in 2015 and Allie in 2021, I can finally watch the videos of them and almost not cry.

Freckles was so protective of me when I got home from my hysterectomy. She smelled a difference (I don’t doubt the heightened awareness of smell that dogs have!!!), was very (unusually so) gentle when she got into bed with me, and made sure that Goldie didn’t jump on the bed…almost like she knew that I was recovering. She probably did. They’re the best!! (And, unlike kids or husbands, you can train a dog and they’ll stay trained. )

Freckles sounds like an amazing furbaby. You mentioned training, ummm, I'm having a hard time training Roscoe and he's already 5.5 yrs old .... I know, it's me, right?
