Neighbours beans have been rubbish this year

My neighbour Jenny was telling me that this year their runner beans have been absolutely rubbish. They acquired some pots when the neighbour the other side died and so they were able to have twice as many bean plants. They are not sure what’s happened but they have all dried up and died. They do water them, and have grown them for years …. Anyway, they have removed the one lot and are going to leave the others to see what happens….. Jenny doesn’t think there will be many beans, if any at all. Very disappointing.

It must be very discouraging to put such effort into something only to see the efforts be unsuccessful.

Are they growing where there were beans last year? The soil might need rejuvenating of replacing. It's good to rotate crops from year to year.

@JudyEv ….the first lot of beans are where they grow them every year …the second lot are in pots, new this year.
