Those of us of a certain age probably remember when cereal boxes had toys in them. They weren't all cereal boxes just certain ones. Kids used to beg their parents for certain cereals because they had to have the toy that was inside. Usually they were the not so good for you brands, but not always. Most of the toys were pretty bad, kind of like what they have in cracker jack boxes, but sometimes they would advertiser getting like a certain decoder ring or something like that..that was a bit more enticing. I remember getting some sort of small tablet that would make writing disappear once, also a small book. Kids cereal boxes used to be fun to read. It was a usual thing to have your cereal and read the box at the same time usually advertising some kind of toy..or maybe what you should have as a healthy breakfast..wouldn't fly today, it was full of carbs. Anyway, something from days gone by. Do you remember any toy you got from a cereal box? I think they stopped putting toys in many years ago.

I remember when I was able to collect all of the Wacky Races cars out of cereal. Took me forever to get Penelope Pitstop!

@teamfreak16 Really? Wow..Did you have to send for it, or was it actually on the box? That thing would probably be a major collectors item today if you still had it. You have a good memory!

@snowy22315 - I don't remember what cereal it was, honestly, but I remember the cars. I know I got my first record off the back of a Honeycombs box. Jackson 5!

We never bought cereals when I was a kid, to be honest I do not even know if those were available in Italy in those years.

Maybe you could get something like Weetabix or something like that. If you had them, I am sure they were healthier than most of the kid's cereals that were available. Older people seemed to have more nutritious stuff. My grandfather was always eating shredded wheat.

@snowy22315 - My mother always gave us toasted brad with butter and jam. That was our usual breakfast in the morning.

The only cereal mom ever bought was oat meal, the kind she'd cook, and cream of wheat, those never had toys in them. We tried asking her to buy some but she'd always say no because they were too expensive.

I don't think they have done it recent years, but it used to be a staple when I was growing up.

It’s been so long since I’ve even looked at a cereal box that I’m not even sure when they stopped it.
