We surprised a resident with a cake for his 72nd birthday

This guy has had a hard life caused by external factors but also poor decisions. He was at the detox back in the spring when I was there. He was here at PHP when I got here now. Apparently he spends a lot of time in and out of this place. Anyway today is his 72nd birthday so someone got a coconut cake for him which is his favorite. They had candles that read 72. One of the guys got him out of the house and over to the picnic table where we had the cake with lit candles. We sang to him. He said "I would like to give a speech but I am actually speechless. This is the best birthday of my adult life." He then started cutting the cake for everyone. He said "its white and fluffy and its not crack!" We all were cracking up. (no pun intended) I'm glad that we were able to do that for him. He was so happy.
