It's a national holiday over here - 15th August is when India celebrates its Independence Day. We generally hoist our national flag on society buildings or establishments, as a way to pay tribute and show respect to those freedom fighters who fought for the independence of our country.

@Rimps85 I'm sure they enjoyed it.
When I was in school, we had a party before Independence Day. When my daughter was in school, I took cupcakes and small toys as gifts for the kids in her class. (Her mother never wanted to do anything like that and I didn't want Pretty to miss out on anything fun, so I always volunteered to do it.)

This day is very important although at times, I feel that whether all those sharing messages and videos on this occasion are even doing their minimum for the nation?
Yet well, that would be fuel for another discussion!

Yes this is because life is so hectic and such Holidays when we start working or Post studies are very few.

Ha ha !! It has been so hectic of late that I just took rest.
And my answer might not amuse you but I am not much fan of the kind of celebrations we have.
Sometimes I rather think that I should have tried for Armed forces in my youth when I see and read about external threats we have.
I did saw Border 2 a few days back and perhaps that is my way of feeling connected with the patriotic tone.
May be my approach is an outlier, but I do not bother much!
