Cow's eye egg

In my country, sunny side egg is called "telur mata sapi". "Telur" means egg, "mata" means eye and "sapi" means cow. It is little bit confusing for foreigner but it is a fact.
Some food or snacks are named after something that don't have any relation with the food.

Interestingly, "mata" means "eye" in Filipino too. I enjoy sunny side up eggs, especially for breakfast, and prefer them perfectly cooked with the yolk semi-cooked. Sometimes, when the eggs aren’t fresh, the yolk breaks and spills over, making the sunny side up look more like scrambled eggs.

@nawala123 True I know the word salamat is common in Malay and Indonesa but they have different meaning. Ours mean Thank you when we say salamat. Yours is different in what it means selamat.

sometimes we joke about it, why don't we call it "mata gajah", or eye of elephant. elephant is much bigger than cow
