Anything that lays on its back will snore including dogs, For some reason if lay on side you do not snore, you may not be able to breathe but will not snore. Dogs are funny when they snore and fart. When they fart, they go you did that. Not sure on cats with that one

I haven't heard a cat farting. I don't think they do.

It is probably more common in older over overweight animals, just like humans.

Many years ago when we had our Westie dog, he would snore sometimes. It always made us giggle…..
