The pantry challenge ……would you do it ?

So, a friend of mine is doing the pantry challenge during the month of September. The idea is that you can’t buy anything for the month of September, but instead use up what you have in your freezer, cupboards and pantry. (My friend grows veggies and fruits at home and on an allotment, which I know not everyone does so fresh fruits / veggies may need to be bought ….unless you have some in the freezer ). She is also going to be making her own bread during this time. Obviously there is an emergency fund, which covers things like washing products etc …. I think it’s a great idea. It will force you to use things from the freezer and make space for new products. Also your tins and dried goods will get used instead of lurking in the cupboards til the next millennium ! Obviously you will be saving money too. Do you think that this is a good idea ? Would you do it ?

It is if you h ave enough put away. I am not sure what all is in the freezer, and if it is still good honestly.I might have to go on a big shop before I started a challenge like that.

@snowy. I think if you do a big shop it would defeat the object of the challenge !

@Traceyjayne If you shopped for a week, but made it last for a month not necessarily. A month is a long timem

I have been thinking about buying some air tight containers and buying some food to store. The prices are supposed to be going up on many.

I should give that a try or at least use up everything that's older in my freezer and what I have in the pantry. I'm sure if I look in my pantry some of the things are either expired or close to expiration.

@Marilynda. I’m sure most people gave a few things that are out of date in their cupboards ….thats why challenges like this are great to do …it prevents it happening again in the future ..l

I think it's worth trying. It's not a bad idea and true, it will save me some money too
