Sleep well Dolly Parton RIP

I wouldn't describe myself as a huge fan of Dolly's. I could probably sing 2 or maybe 3 of her songs. I've seen her as Truvy in the movie "Steel Magnolias" though and she was just an amazing American icon. Not only did she sing her way through the decades with country music but she even released a rock and roll record several years ago when she was nominated for the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
We knew that she was dealing with health issues in the past year after her husband Carl Dean died. She had to keep cancelling public events. She recently said that she had neglected her health to care for him. She never looked ill, though, even at the age of 80 and of course she never would be seen in public that way.
I screamed and then cried when I heard the announcement on the news. So odd that I left the TV in the front room on or that I would snuggle with the cats in my bed while it was on. That just isn't a thing around here.
Sleep well Queen. I'll be playing "9 to 5" next week on my way back to work. It will be 6:30am but she will get the point.

She recently did a song with Post Malone that was so good, and showed she never lost a musical step. A few years ago she performed at halftime during the Thanksgiving game at the Cowboys.
You had never seen someone so excited as my BIL when he found out Dolly Parton was his fourth cousin. It means absolutely nothing, but he always thought she was so awesome.
What a legacy she leaves! I like to think of her in Heaven, being greeted by Jesus and Carl Dean.

I get that, I felt like that the night that they announced that Lady Diana passed away.
I was glued to the television set for the days that followed mourning right along with those in the massive crowds.
You're grieving another loss also, hold tight onto the cats-they will see you through this.

@NJChicaa Why do so many tragedies occur over the Labour Day weekend?
We were at a huge outdoor pig roast and party with 150 or so people, we came home and I was changing my clothes to go and sit outside with my husband, and I turned on the TV and read the new, and I cried....

@Juliaacv I only have a TV in the front room. If I'm going to nap/sleep it is turned off. I was back there for some reason and Adso wanted so snuggle up so I got onto the bed with him. I never have it on if I'm not at least in the front and listening to it. I heard the breaking news and literally screamed. I didn't do that ever for any other loss. Then I just cried for several minutes.
Yeah this time of year is just BS. 3 years ago I thought the worst night of the weekend was JB's passing. Little did I know. . I don't know if I mentioned it on here or FB but I was like lets add Dad, TK, and MP too.

Starting to tally up who wrote about her. She had a blessed life up to 80 and can now join with her husband, which is great for her We're lucky we have her music and movies,
