Dolly Parton

As everyone knows, and I'm sure several have probably already posted about it, Dolly Parton died the other day. Dolly was such a big part of my childhood and in the background of my life. My mom was a big country music fan, and country music was one of the few things I remember listening to, along with oldies, until I was probably about 9 or 10. Dolly had such a powerful voice. There was never anyone who sounded quite like her. I love that she was wholesome. I love that she accepted everyone for who they were. She was beautiful inside and out and had so much talent. She never let money and fame go to her head, and she remained a down-to-earth person. You can't say that about a lot of people, but Dolly was so unique. I don't think there will ever be another person quite like her. I am so sad that another piece of my childhood is gone. Dolly was always in the background of my life, popping up when I wasn't expecting her and playing music that I could relate to. Whenever I hear her music, I think of my mom. My mother was the first person to put Dolly on the radio for me to hear. I actually bought my mom a Dolly Parton DVD set for her birthday a few years ago. My mom is really into country and gospel music, and Dolly was one of her favorites. I think what was amazing about Dolly was that she never let life keep her down. She had so many setbacks and bad things happen, and she just kept on singing and keeping her spirits up. She lived every moment to the fullest and didn't let anything keep her down. I imagine she probably had moments of doubt and sadness just like everyone else, but she never stayed down. I am just sad that her bright light isn't on earth anymore; it's still there through her music and movies, but it's not the same. I am sad I never had the opportunity to meet her, but at least she's with her husband now. Dolly's "I Will Always Love You" is now ringing in my ears as I think of her. She was a national treasure, and she will be missed.
