Dolly’s Last Hurrah

I’m not sure how many people read that Dolly Parton arranged to have a brand new song of hers to be released twenty years after her death. It’s kind of cool to know there is part of Dolly still yet to be explored. Would you like to arrange something like that? Sure, you don’t have a song to be released, but what about something else years after you’re gone. A letter to a younger relative? A time capsule? I like the idea. It would be kind of cool to have had a book from Ernest Hemingway twenty years posthumous.

The world changes so much in 20 years time. I cannot imagine leaving anything that would resonate with anyone 2 decades after. But then again, I am not famous as she was.

In country music, it can happen. They have continued to play her song “9 to 5”, and that was back in the 1980s. She wrote “I Will Always Love You”, and Whitney Houston’s version was on my radio last week. Something about her work seems to last. The only other country singer I see that working for is Garth Brooks. His 1980s and 1990s music is constantly on my radio. Can you tell I love country music?

@AmbiePam Yeah you sure do love it. We have youtube on the television, my favorite, Bob Seger, is currently up. We're listening to music before we leave to go and see Mister Bryan Adams singing downtown at the Canada Life Place. I was so worried that I didn't have my digital wallet set up properly, so our son stopped in to check it and said that I did a great job and I even took it a step further and set up apple pay, so if I am not carrying my debit card, I can just tap my phone to pay. I might remove that since I do not need it, although he suggested that it will always be running in the background and that I would need to acquire a new debit card number to be sure that if I lost my phone nobody could tap my phone on a spending spree.

@ambiepam Ah, Hemingway. Now there’s someone I need to read more of, especially while I’m here in Italy.

I read that she had mapped out a bunch of projects she wanted done after she passed. So her work will continue on.

I probably won’t be around to hear its release. Who knows what people will be listening to in twenty years time? Certainly not me snoring!
