The judge in the Lindsay Clancy declared a mistrial

After deliberating for days--the judge has said that it was due to the jurors being deadlocked. They had sent notes to him a couple of times stating that they were unable to come to a unanimous verdict. I don't remember if it was yesterday or the day before but the judge paused deliberations and called the jurors to the bench one by toward the end of the day. He swore them in and questioned them. What is even more bizarre is that the defendant (Clancy) was sitting in her wheelchair right next to the juror interviews. Surely she could hear the discussions. Last night it came out of a very furious defense lawyer that the lone holdout was a man who simply refused to follow the judge's instructions--which said that if there is any possibility that she didn't know what she was doing then she must be given the benefit of the doubt. So the trial is done. . . at least this one. The prosecutor has declined to say if/when he will decide on a re-trial. The mother who killed her 3 children is back to either prison or a psychiatric facility. According to the news she likely will remain institutionalized for years even if there isn't a second trial or if there is one and she is found not guilty.
