Health Journey 2026 - Days 33-36

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? I know I have been MIA a few days. It's been a busy weekend, plus I caught whatever bug Eli brought home, just a cold I believe. I don't remember what I last shared about that had to do with my health journey. But I have been carnivore except for on Saturday. The fish truck came to town, so after shopping with my mom we got lunch from there. I also had a donut and a coffee -- but that is all I had. Then, I went on a 20 hour fast. What I did notice was the donut and coffee took my sugar over 300! Yikes. I took a correction dose of insulin which brought it down to normal. But I know I shouldn't do cheat days -- doesn't mean I never will though, just maybe cut it back... This time, my weight has thankfully gone down. Think the fast helped, and not eating a bunch yesterday. Just not as hungry when I am sick. I am a bit under my lowest weight that I had reached so far on this journey, so glad to be starting to lose weight again. Hopefully I will be back to sharing normally again, we'll see how I feel later. What do you all think of everything?

I am glad that you are feeling better. I can see why that coffee and donuts made your sugar go up. Donuts are full of sugar and coffee usually has cream and sugar. Maybe find a more healthier snack like some nuts and fruit.

@Ineeddentures Why not? Is she allergic to nuts or she just doesn't like fruit?

@Ineeddentures You are correct, I would not eat those

I don't think @MommyofEli2013 will eat fruit and nuts

@MommyOfEli2013 .........I can certainly understand that. I guess you'll see about the weight loss.

@celticeagle I did go up today because I had more calories yesterday than the day before. Once I am over being sick I should get into working out

Thanks, I just couldn't focus on being here when it was at its worse. Today I have felt a bit better minus a constant cough. Losing again is great, just hope it is not because I have been eating less while being sick...

Maybe instead of a cheat day, you can have a cheat treat. Instead of all that “bad” food Saturday you could have had one item off your diet. Kind of a compromise since 300 is such a high sugar.

Well I would only want to allow a cheat "treat" on a day that I was doing a cheat day...since it probably will be messing me up anyway. I don't want to bring the high blood sugar I know I will have to a day when I am trying to do good. I know eventually I shouldn't even have a cheat since I know what it does to me...but I want to enjoy those things every once in a while.

@MommyOfEli2013 Just trying to help, Courtney. Obviously, you’ve got this completely under control.

@AmbiePam I know, I just probably will do it as I did Saturday, but take more insulin before the "treat" next time. I took it before the meal, but should have also before the dessert since it was a couple hours later. So that was really my bad.

Thanks, I hope I will. Yes it shot up to that after carbs. I didn't even over do it that day like that one big cheat day. I did fast 20 hours after that meal. Hey I am down to a new low even.

Hope you feel better soon, colds are the worst timing. Good for you for noticing the sugar spike and handling it, and congrats on the weight coming back down. Rest up and don't push yourself till you're feeling more like normal!

Thanks, feeling better today minus the cough I have had all day. Yes, that was a really high one, but it came down fast and has been back to my "normal". Glad to see the scale going down again, for sure. Oh I won't....was going to think about adding exercise in now that I got my baseline from the doctor, but will wait till I am fully over being sick.

Donuts are full of sugar and flour. So avoid those even on a cheat day. At least until you get more weight off.

When I have a cheat day, I eat what I want...I know they are bad and I shouldn't. But it is one little joy in life.... Seems the insulin and fasting after has helped
