Autophagy

I have been doing some research into different aspects of longevity and found this interesting.
As we know, cells are basic building blocks of every tissue and organ in our bodies. As we age the multiple parts of cell make up can become defective or even stop working. They become litter inside an other wise healthy cell.
This is where autophagy comes in. It's the body's recycling system. By letting the cell disassemble the junk parts it can salvage bits and pieces into usable parts. This plays an important role in the aging process.
Utilizing the practice of intermittent fasting (when you don't eat for a period of time) can deprive the cells of nutrients for a time and trigger autophagy. Research suggests that 24-48 hours is necessary but some say even 12 hours can start the process. The keto diet can also trigger autophagy.
Interesting?

Yeah, it is. I don't feel well doing either the keto diet or intermittent eating though. My blood sugar gets too low.

For some I guess it helps them regulate their blood sugar.

It's fine for short periods, the longer the more questionable.
