Oh, here we go again! We’re enjoying New York City this month, but here’s a song with a title that doesn’t match…just like using the band Chicago earlier in the month! But you’ll be too busy dancing to care, so let’s get the boogie going! Katmandu - Bob Seger Okay, so he misspelled the name of the city (it’s Kathmandu). You’re still too busy dancing to care. In 1975 we were a year away from Bob Seger’s classic breakthrough albums Live Bullet and, especially, Night Moves. This song got FM rock airplay, so we were getting primed for his success. Another thing: you may remember what I said about Springsteen’s concerts being incredible. Ditto Bob Seger. I read once that he said he lost about eight pounds a night, sweating it off while he played. This song is a little CCR meets Chuck Berry (I always like to quote Seger’s line about “all of Chuck’s children (are) out there, playing his licks”) sounding, and it’s a killer. Seger has retired from performing (he’s 81 now), and he’s earned it. And wow, what great music we have to celebrate that long career of his with!
