Trump has now promised each adult in the country a 'dividend' of $5,000 if Republicans win both the Senate and the House. Can you believe it? This lying twirp will do anything.

How can bribery by a political figure in a democratic election not be illegal?

@celticeagle They need an expedited trial. At the State level.

I can understand why you would question it, although whether it legally counts as bribery is another matter. The whole situation certainly raises eyebrows.

Bribery, especially when it comes to elections, is illegal. But I guess when you are desperate you'll do just about anything. I read that the funds that he gives out can be spent anywhere but here in Canada. Every single car that I see with a US license plate gets a dirty glare from me, all because of him and his poitics.

Most Americans do not support Donald Trump.

@TheHorse I can't help feeling the way that I do. It is a majority that vote in an individual in any election, and obviously the majority of Americans did that for him. They stood behind him, if they've changed their minds, they need to vote accordingly. I love my country and my countrymen, and he has called us so many names and caused such heartache that I feel as I do. Otherwise, I am not a rude person, not at all like DJ.

Trump doesn't care. He will do anything for votes. You remember the Georgia phone call, right?

And, of course, if/when he were to be called on trying to bribe/vote rig, he’d say it was a joke.

Like the Georgia phone call begging for votes was a joke?

That would certainly be a convenient defence. “I was only joking” seems like an easy way to dodge a difficult question after the fact.

@wolfgirl569 I guess I've been asking the same question for years.

Would you allow your vote to be bought?

I can understand why $5,000 would sound tempting, especially when money is tight. But I would still want to know exactly where the money is coming from and what comes with it.

I think voters are not dumb enough to think they will get $5 grand in the hand. Then I thought they are MAGA so maybe. I presume its more like two more years of tax cuts to hard working Americans

No doubt. Not to mention reduced gas prices and an immediate end to the war in Ukraine.

That is another possibility. I suppose the real question is whether people actually believe they are getting a $5,000 payment or whether there is something else behind the promise.

That is quite a promise to make, especially when it is tied so directly to an election result. I can see why people would question what the real intention is behind it.
