Saturday's Supper Plans

Today has been a busier day than I would have liked it to be, but the shopping and errands have all be completed. I managed to get alot of steps in today. I got 10 pounds of carrots cleaned, sliced, blanched and frozen, not all are bagged, but they will be before the day ends. And 2 loads of laundry done and all put away.
My son texted me a while ago. We all know that the kiddos in school are just little germs with arms and legs, and as it would seem, Harper is all stuffed up today. When he told me that one of them was coming down with a cold, I guessed Harper, and he asked how I knew that, and I told him that she always gets sick first, and then her germ will visit Willow, Mommy and sometimes Daddy. they are going to push the probiotic on the girls this week. They might have to spend some time at home next week with Grandpa if they are too sick to attend school.
With the busy day, I have made the executive decision to have a no-cook supper.
We both really love those. we'll get out the wraps, I just had some fresh deli meats and cheeses sliced and shredded at the little Italian place not far from here. We'll have a nice pickle on the side, and best of all it will be a relaxing meal to get out and to enjoy. 
Sometimes I prefer a no-cook meal than anything else, what about you?

Hope they don't get too sick.
I had an almost no cook meal tonight. I did slice and fry up some beef. But we had corn and cucumber to go with it.

No cook meals are so nice, and very very filling.
Harper usually gets a cold, which we wonder isn't a form of allergies at this time of the year.
they take a multi cold and flu pill every morning, so she shouldn't be ill.
Used a picture of Ellie as she isn't doing so well. Next week they are having to take her to the vet for her final trip. Poor baby can barely stand at this point, and I don't know if it because of the mass in her stomach area or what, but she cannot make it outside to pee lately.

@wolfgirl569 Harper has been hinting for about half a year already. She asks why Ellie falls when she lies down, just drops to the floor, and asks why she sleeps all of the time and why she has to go into the vet's so often. They both know. but my DIL's family talks about when Ellie is gone, and the girls have both asked Grandpa and me where is 'gone' but it really isn't our story to tell them.
The breeder told us 8-10 years is the life expectancy and she is like 14 years old, so on borrowed time. But that darned vet they go to just sees dollar signs and although she would most likely not survive surgery, he always asks if he can remove the mass in her tummy area. Of course he asks, but that isn't fair. Finally my hubs just told our son that he need to think of the dog and follow his heart, he isn't stupid, he knows he is being played, I told him that point blank. There is really no decision, she is suffering and has been almost this entire calendar year.

It could very well be allergies.
Poor girl. That's always a hard decision to make. I know the girls are going to really miss her

We have meals like that on hot days too, but it works for a day when we are hungry, but too tired to cook something, besides, I forgot to get anything out earlier.
I included a photo of Ellie, our son's dog, as she will be making her final visit to the vet's office in a few days. Poor dog is suffering, it is heart breaking to see our son and DIL go through this, plus field the questions that the girls keep asking.

During my time at kindergarten, first grade, and second grade to the horror of my mother who was always busy with all kinds of things just before Christmas it was sure that two weeks before the holiday I would come down with all of the childhood diseases, Starting with mums in kindergaten, followed my measels in first grade and i forgot what struck me in second grade but those three years two week made my mother worried and finding it hard to concentrate on getting ready for the holiday, At least by Christmas I was all right and after this time heading into 3rd grade I was hardly ever sick,

I was always battling ear infections as a young student.
One year both eardrums burst.
I got so sick and it took a very long time to recover.
But by the time I was in grade 3 or 4, I was big enough and healthy enough to fight off germs better.
My brothers never got as sick as I did.

Meals like this are great on hot days, but they work for days when I just don't feel like cooking too.
I'm pretty sure that at least Willow and probably Mommy will come down with the bug that Harper has, but that remains to be seen.
I also wonder if Harper misses school on Monday due to illness, if Willow will go on her own. She loves school, but I don't know if she will feel independent enough to strike off on her own.
I like having fresh produce to blanche and freeze for cold weather days, we have 6 months of those here, so it goes a long ways towards helping with the grocery budget.
