Do you need another side dish, even though there are already vegetables?

Today, I cooked a clear vegetable soup consisting of spinach, carrots, and shallots that had been peeled and crushed.
As for me, I could probably eat without needing any additional side dishes—like fritters, for instance. But my father always asks for fried food.
If the food is fried, we certainly need to drink plenty of fluids, yet my father—he probably never even finishes a single glass.

That vegetable soup sounds really healthy and comforting, especially with spinach and carrots. I think I would also be quite happy eating it without anything fried on the side. Maybe you could encourage your father to take a few sips more often, even if he doesn't want to finish a whole glass at once. Does he generally drink very little throughout the day too?

Just now
I would think rice or warm bread. I do not eat much in the way of fried foods.

If I'm cooking for more than just Pretty and I, then I make meat, two veggies, some type of bread and a drink (usually water for me whatever the other people would like to drink.) If I'm just cooking for Pretty and I, I make some type of meat, one veggie (I ask Pretty what she'd like) and some type of bread. If we want drinks, we can get them ourselves.

@May2k8 You know you can freeze most food so nothing goes to waste, right?

Of course yes. At least tofu or tempe. Btw your soup is better if you serve fried tempe too
