As many of you know, I like Indian food. I haven't been to my local Indian "all you can eat" lunch buffet in over a year, but I get some good frozen Indian food from Trader Joe's every few weeks.
Recently, I was doing business in a largely Asian shopping center when I spied an Indian market. I checked it out and wound up buying a couple of frozen Indian dinners. One was lamb vindaloo and the other was the chicken dish shown.
The cost of my favorite Indian dishes at Trader Joe's is about $5/meal. At the Indian place it was closer to $8/meal.
To cut to the chase, I prefer the taste of Trader Joe's Indian dishes to what I found at the Indian place. I may head to Trader Joe's later in the day.
Do you ever experiment with new dishes from your local grocery stores or restaurants?

Yes, pretty often,,,especially if the price is right. Lidl a low cost grocery store has a variety of Indian frozen dinners.

I do. There were some Mediterranean frozen meals on sale at Kroger and I tried one. Spent a week regretting it.

trader joe's indian food is honestly underrated, glad it held up against the actual market stuff. funny how sometimes the cheaper option just tastes better, go figure. i do try new stuff from the grocery store sometimes, usually random and hoping for the best lol

yes, I sure do. I consider myself a foody and if I were a rich old lady I've have a cook on staff trying out new dishes on me. I'd like to try some dishes from other countries but I'm not sure Indian would be among them. I hope you found some good ones to try from Trader Joe's. I've never been there or Cosco's.

I keep a close tab on all I spend so no experimentation but looking into my full freezer I start wondering when I lost interest in food in general,
