Canada has become an associate member of the European Union. Unless one was in a coma for the past few years, it isn't shocking.
Relaying upon America has proven disastrous for every nation since Trump came into office.
Mentally unstable, Trump babbles fantasies, changes his position constantly and has made America into the world's clown.
Countries with a bit of clout can turn their backs and ignore him, weaker countries know how to say 'sure' then quietly do exactly what they want off the front page.
Things are getting worse for Americans, which is no secret.

Yeah this isn't really surprising at all, been seeing it coming for a while now. Smaller countries just play along quietly while the bigger ones do their own thing, makes sense honestly. Things really do feel like they going downhill lately for a lot of people.

I hope we can get rid of him and his idiots and mend our ties with other countries. The sooner the better.

@celticeagle it will not happen unless there is some fantastic president we can trust. But what makes it more serious is that there isn't the kind of confrontation we would expect. It seems Americans back off... say out of fear... but no one really stands up

We know... Hopefully Americans will vote correctly and get the Republicans out of the Senate and House so trump can't keep doing this. He'll be out of office sooner if the impeachment goes through and will be in jail if the majority of Americans get their say this time.

Canada hasn't become an associate member yet. They've been invited, but details will have to be worked out and long negotiations conducted, with lots of technicalities to agree. It's a process that will almost certainly take years, and then any agreement will have to be ratified by each side. It's definitely a good sign that both Canada and the EU are seriously interested in closer cooperation though, it should be good for both their economies and mutual security.

right now I assume Canada and the EU are entering into trade agreements... buying from each other. Even without the membership trading is an excellent project. The EU cuts out the US. Trump can bark like a pit bull but not buying from the US profits both groups
