Health Journey 2026 - Day 45

Hello everyone, how are you doing? I've completed another day on this carnivore journey. I'll share more of how things are going tomorrow when I share my weigh in. But I think so far it is going pretty well. We'll see a better picture in 3 months when I go back to my doctor (though he may not check my cholesterol numbers just yet). Anyways - what did I eat today? Meal 1 - 5 slices of bacon and 2 eggs Meal 2 - Burger patty with cheese, 1 tbsp butter; a little sugar free BBQ sauce for dipping. Meal 3 - 4 oz ground beef with taco seasoning; sour cream, and a bit of ketchup. I need to check the ingredients in the sugar free ketchup because sometimes it is a nice addition Macros -- 1,356 calories, 15 carbs, 98 fat, 94 protein Now; yes I use a few sugar free items. I still drink a zero sugar soda almost daily. I know most will say sugar free is bad for you and I understand that. BUT....it is SO much better than what I was doing on the standard american diet. Also, it does not affect my blood sugar. It could make my weight loss slower, but if I am still losing that is what matters. By the way, my blood sugar stayed between 80 and 100 today - except after I woke up before I ate my breakfast. I only took my long lasting insulin, and about 2 units of meal time insulin. I was taking up to around 10 when I was eating high carb meals. So if you don't think I am doing better eating this way, I don't know how else to explain it!

@thislittlepennyearns I am not defensive one bit. I just said to each their own and that you probably wouldn't eat the way I do. Literally NOTHING is defensive. and that is good. and I eat good homemade food too.

@celticeagle I think it is the choline in the eggs that is helping...because when I was not eating them my sugar would stay above 100. So going to try to have eggs with my first meal every day

Yes, 2 days in a row. I was higher this morning but after a tiny bit of insulin and meat and eggs I'm at 88 right now.

I get sugar free isn’t good for a person, but for diabetics it’s still better than regular sugar, right? Or do doctors tell diabetics to do neither? That would be tough for me to go without any soda.

Well it is better in the fact it doesn't spike blood sugar. I've never had them tell me to not drink zero sugar/diet sodas. But never told them I did either lol I wouldn't want to fully go without my soda either

As long as your doctor said yes, then it is a good eating habit. I myself is eating at the right time, and I eat a lot of healthy food, and I am avoiding for now any food that was fried.

@MommyOfEli2013 yeah you are right, and also I don't eat fried right now, my mom always cooks soup with fish and veggies, every other day, then meet with soup also with veggies and meat... If you only knew what happened to me the recent weeks, waaah! But I have learned my lesson, and my mom yelled enough, lol! But I really love all the viand with soup that my mom is cooking, and I eat it at the right time.

I didn't ask my personal doctor their opinion. They aren't my boss. I do follow Dr. Berry though. Well that is good that you do all that. And a lot of fried food is bad, especially if it is fried in seed oils.

I guess as long as you are sure these products are actually sugar free, it shouldn't be a problem right? Over here some of the products they claim to be sugar free aren't really one.

Well the labels claim they are, so as long as the companies are being honest. That is awful that they aren't always sugar free there when they claim to be

Sounds like you're really finding what works for your body, that insulin drop alone says alot. Good job staying consistent, tracking everything like this takes real discipline. Keep going, seems like the results are speaking for themselves already.

I just hope I can stick to it long enough without adding carb days back. Hopefully the scale will show a new low tomorrow
