Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well. It is 83 degrees F and sunny here at the Jersey Shore. It is really nice out there! I got to work early to set up for the bake sale. We didn't have as many contributions as we usually do. We sold by the gym before school and then some of the members brought what was left up to my classroom. I sold the rest of it and it was all gone by the end of 3rd period. We raised $231 which is great! That's more than enough for the supplies to make cake pops. That's what they said they want to do at our next meeting. The day was easy enough but also frustrating. I assigned a review worksheet for them to do yesterday. Almost no one got it done by the end of class so I told them to finish it by the afternoon and send it to me. Most of them chose not to do that. So today I told them this was the one and only time I was going to give them another class period to get it finished. It was only like 20 questions. It shouldn't take 80 minutes to get that done. That is absurd. I ordered groceries and picked the delivery time slot for 1-3pm. I get back here around 2 and typically the deliveries are toward the end of the time period. Well I received a text at 12:58pm that my order had been delivered. Luckily I only had a couple of frozen items and milk that sat here. What is crazy though is that I forgot that it had been delivered and I wound up chatting with my work BFF in the parking lot for like 20 minutes. Then all of a sudden I was like "oh $hit! I've gotta go!"

I'm back at the apartment with the cat crew. The groceries are put away. I am sitting down and resting for a bit. I need to do laundry and the dishes but there's no major rush on that. I don't have big plans for the afternoon/evening. I need to make dinner. I have chicken that I need to do something with. What's everyone else up to?

Just to check, because I think I know the answer, when one’s students are that lazy, can you say”Cut the crap, you lazy bums!”

Because that’s beyond pathetic. I’m cleaning, and waiting for a package.

@AmbiePam come on--you've known me long enough. I always tell my students that they may not like what I have to say but they can trust that I am always telling them the truth. I've had students ask if I like their outfits or new sneakers or whatever. I have no qualms about saying no. I will tell them when the class largely bombed a test because they didn't study. I've even declined to write college recommendation letters for students whose final grade in my class was a C. I tell them to find someone else who can write more positive things. They don't have to like me but at least they know I'll always give it to them straight.

Sounds like a busy but good day, $231 for the bake sale is awesome, cake pops are gonna be fun. That worksheet thing is annoying, kids always act like 20 questions is some huge task. Glad the frozen stuff survived the early delivery, that would've stressed me out too.
