Emergency crews rescue a person who was at an embankment in North Carolina

Charlotte Fire Department firefighters with the assistance of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and MEDIC first responders answered an emergency call when a person was in need of being rescued when the person was near embankment near Northlake Mall on Friday morning.
The emergency crews used their equipment to lift the person whose name and gender were not released to the public to safety.
The injured person was taken by an ambulance to a local hospital life with life-threatening injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the authorities. Hopefully the injured person will make a full recovery.

I agree with @AmbiePam on how in the world that could have happened, and perhaps the person tried to get himself over the embankment.
