Hotels Are Determined To Make Money

I don’t know when was the last time that you stayed in a hotel but they’ve gotten really miserly lately with letting you have things
For example, they’ve always had like afternoon check-in, let’s say 4 PM and noon check out times in order to allow housekeeping time to clean all the rooms. But it used to always be that if they had a claimer available, they would go ahead and let you out early. They never used to charge you for that.
Now, if you want to get in the room earlier than the 4 PM check-in time, you have to pay a substantial amount of money
For example, when we arrived in Munich last month after an overnight flight, it was approximately eight or 8:30 AM and check-in time wasn’t until three or 4 PM. They had clean rooms available, however, they were to charge us a hard leg for them. In order to let us in at 8 AM they wanted €200 extra on top of the room right. Then they pour rated that, for example, if we wanted in at 11 AM, it was 40 extra euro.
They knew that we would pay the extra €40 because we were exhausted after a long overnight flight and had nothing else to do.
I guess they are entitled to do that as a surface history, but it certainly takes the service heart of the word away

We did not like the hotel we were staying in in Chicago because they didn't have the amenites that your average Motel 6 would have..no ice nor vending machines, and no microwaves. Also, for a few bucks more you can get motels to throw in a free breakfast, sometimes a very nice one. Now, did let you check into the room early for free,,which was great since we were exhausted by the time we hoofed it up there from the train..but the price was astronomical, and we were disgusted with the lack of amenities.

I haven't seen vending machines in a hotel in decades. Well, I do stay at hotels as opposed to motels.

@LooeyVille No, I stay at motels. They are around. Probably not all have them though, and they all have ice and microwaves.

@looeyville I despise hotels. They are very mean nowadays and they measure everything out. They used to be generous places and it was a luxury to stay in one, but no more.

I haven't traveled or stayed in a hotel in ages so I'm really surprised at all the extra charges you had to pay. My daughter just came back from a conference so I'll have to ask her if there were additional charges for her hotel, etc.

Do you think it is mainly Europe? Because when we went to Disneyland, we had a couple stops in California, and we got there early, hours before check in time. My BIL asked if we could get in early, and since both had clean rooms, they let us, no charge. And we’re not talking about the Ramada. My sister thought for sure they would charge us.

I am Going to say this one time and one time only. Everyone in the US is worried about Socialism. Well the greedy people anyway. All I have to say is look at what you endure in your lives everyday in the name of capitalism. It does not sound close to sounding fun and I get being a adult is not fun, but who the hell makes life so miserable.
People robbing other people by making you hate your own life. Be capitalistic or else. Trust me socialism and communism is not either. The leaders of the world sure pegged you all and you all in the same boat. We can steer everyone.

In the UK, check-in is normally 3pm, and check-out time is normally noon. If you’ve booked a specific room, and the previous customers haven’t checked out, then obviously it’s not possible. Asking for £200 isn’t going to change the availability of that room, so they must be putting you in any available room that is ready and claiming an extra £200 for the privilege.
