Cybersecurity and EV vehicles

A news item that caught my attention today was regarding how easy it is for hackers to infiltrate the Chinese EV vehicles. You can read about it here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-09-21/byd-hacked-by-cybersecurity-expert-vehicle-sabotage-surveillance/107139482. It is really quite concerning.
It took a cybersecurity expert no time at all to hack into the electronics of a BYD (Build Your Dream) car. This included turning the lights on and off, operating the windshield wipers and suddenly blasting the radio while the driver is travelling on the road. During a demonstration, the expert was able to activate Siri then access bank accounts. It’s best to read the article if you’re interested as it would take too many paragraphs to explain it here and I didn’t understand all of it either.
What it boils down to, is that personal information can be collected by ‘outsiders’, even those in another country. I’m about to watch Four Corners which will go over all the same stuff.

I like that pic. The thing is though it was a cybersecurity expert that did it not the average Joe, still though, that is scary stuff.

I also heard that EVs can cause fires easily too. The batteries are highly combustible they said that there was a fire incident in a ferry boat having these cars parked inside. Port authorities are now thinking of regulating them on boats since the incident happened.

That's a stunning looking wildflower.
The hackers of the world are so intelligent, getting what us, unsuspecting technical non savvy individuals have and take it or destroy it. If only they would use their smarts for the better of our world instead of breaking it down, what a world we would have.

That really does sound scary and makes me wonder how much of our personal information is really safe and secure.
