It’s time for a dive into that 100 favorites list for the next couple of songs. That means you’ve heard these before and you’ve heard me rant about them before. Well, guess what, I’m gonna do it again! Here’s today’s song with New York City in the lyrics. #4: Couldn’t Get It Right - Climax Blues Band They’re from England. I have to point that out because the original, full name of the act was Climax Chicago Blues Band. And, hey, there’s nothing that screams “Chicago blues” like their two biggest U.S. hits, the harmony-laden ballad “I Need You” and this one. In terms of chart success, this was the bigger hit (peaked at #3), but “I Need You” probably still gets airplay on soft rock/easy listening/yacht rock stations. This song grabbed me the first time I heard it in 1977. Next year my “50-year-old song” countdown for my birthday will feature 1977…and guess what song will be on the list.
