A blast from the past

We are trying to get rid of Vince’s coin collection and have joined the Perth Numismatics Association. Stamps, coins, postcards, medallions are all part of the collections of the various members.
One member is Dutch and his father was interned by the Germans during World War II. Another member has a number of postcards and noticed a Red Cross one with a surname the same as the Dutch member. On the off-chance, he brought the postcard to the meeting to show the Dutchman. Not only was the surname the same but the postcard had been sent from his mother to his father when he was interned. That’s a pretty good coincidence or maybe even a miracle.
We never managed to get to the Netherlands but here’s a photo of some tulips.

I ever read that some Dutch soldiers migrated to Australia. They wanted to keep shepherd sheep because their family land was divided and turned into industrial area

It truly is a small world. That’s amazing that the man got to see such personal history.

When the Dutch guy got to Australia and was reunited with his wife, he had a 2 1/2 year-old daughter he'd never seen or knew about. I find the 'knew about' a bit hard to believe but perhaps the postcard never reached the soldier.
The postcard owner had had it for around 40 years but couldn't remember where he got it from. He thought he'd put it up for sale but then noticed the surname was the same his fellow collector.
